Here's My Experience Selling Some Costco Bars

I sold a few Costco coins/bars last week to my LCS. The spot price was $2,637, according to them. They paid me $2,560 per ounce for 2 Maples and 1 Lady Fortuna, and $8,235 for a 100g Lady Fortuna. I’m not at a loss since I bought them for less. I needed the money to reduce some of the margin risk for my stock portfolio.

I didn’t shop around much to sell and didn’t mind taking slightly less per ounce rather than spending hours finding a better deal or running around. This shop had better reviews and the most positive feedback, so I went with them. I also wasn’t comfortable selling online to a stranger, as I prefer the security of dealing in person.

They gave me a check for $15.9k along with an itemized receipt. They mentioned that they prefer Costco coins/bars in assay cards, untouched, as they were in perfect condition for resale. Mine were in assay and in mint condition. If the coins or bars have any scratches then they will pay slightly lesser. While handling the check, they placed my coins/bars in the display cabinet for sale right in front of me.
