Banana ideas that AREN'T banana bread?
To start off, I love my husband and he's very sweet. Since our second child was born, he's taken over the weekly grocery shopping, so I don't have to worry about dragging a newborn and all his accessories through a grocery store. He just really sucks at groceries. It's not his fault, he's just your stereotypical autistic engineer. He requires very specific grocery lists to clarify brands and quantities on everything, and some of the nuances of checking produce quality are lost on him. (For anyone who's played StardewValley, think of the controversial "tomatoes are a fruit" conversation with Demetrius.) He's picked up a lot of tricks but cannot wrap his head around freaking bananas.
These bananas, man. He comes home from the grocery store with a bunch of bananas that look like they were thrown against a wall and were already a day or two from being overripe. I cannot eat these bananas fast enough to save them from themselves. Honestly, the bruising on some is bad enough that they'll dissolve into brown slime before they get to the overripe point. No one wants to eat brown banana slime.
Fortunately, overripe bananas and bruised up banana slime are perfect for banana bread. Unfortunately, I've made three loaves of banana bread in December. I have a loaf I baked on Christmas Eve still sitting untouched in the fridge right now. I have eight more bananas from the store today already on their last legs, and everyone is so tired of banana bread. What can I do that's NOT banana bread?
Edit: Also considered banana pudding, but it looks like most of that is just vanilla pudding with slices of banana layered in. Could work, but won't hide the ugly bruising and I'm worried no one else will touch it if it looks questionable.
