Suggestions for places at end of December to bring my partner who has never been to CT?

Hello all!

As context, I grew up in fairfield but haven’t been back for a few years. I would love any recommendations for must see places I can bring my partner who has never been to New England?

He grew up in a big city in Texas so I really want to show him the most quaint, charming and beautiful spots, especially since we now also live in a very industrial city in California. Any ideas for day trips would be great! Bonus points for anything holidays related! I have a few spots in mind, but love to get a hive mind so I don’t miss anything. Thank you!
