Go to local grocery store = highway robbery
I live in Waverly Hall and needed just a few necessities this past weekend for a couple of meals I was planning for the week. Instead of driving all the way into town to go to Aldi, I decided to just run in Coopers. Big mistake. We were out of various necessities like ziplock bags and cat food, so I picked those up as well. Keep in mind, I’m not really paying attention to prices (I know, I know) but just trying to quickly grab things as I see them and remember we need them. In my head I knew generally what everything should cost. Got to the register with what I assumed to be about $100, maybe $150 in groceries. Nope- cashier tells me $317!!!!! After I picked myself off the floor and had her double check, I started putting things back because I didn’t even have that much money on me since I didn’t grab my purse as I was walking out the door. I should have just left and driven into town to Aldi at this point but I guess I was in shock? Still ended up paying $249 for what should have been less than $100. Some of the most egregious examples: $4.30 for a can of soup. $7/lb for ground chuck, $12 for a small bag of cat food. Anyway, I know times are tough and small business owners are struggling too because of inflation, but how are they still in business?! I certainly won’t step foot in the door again.
