Switched to healthy lifestyle for last 4+ months but stubborn LDL and HBA1C.
I am a 32 male, Indian and got my first bad lipid profile in July 2022 (LDL: 144, HDL: 35 and Triglycerides: 260). Despite this my HBA1c was normal at 5.5. The lab results before this were done in 2017 which were normal. Between 2017 and 2022 had a very unhealthy lifestyle and also gained weight from 80 kgs to 92 kgs.
Doctor prescribed a 20mg statin for 2 months which brought down the LDL 54 at end of Oct 2022 but increased HBA1c to 5.7 and triglycerides shot up to 288 and HDL dropped to 32. From July 2022 to Oct 2022, I was eating healthy with minimal exercise.
Fast forward to Sep 2024, I started following a healthy routine, started cardio plus weight training plus HIIT regularly along with once a week 36 hr dry fast. In one month weight came down to 87 kgs from 92 and got lab work done. The reports showed LDL of 148, triglycerides of 194 and HDL of 45. HBA1c went to 5.8.
Continued the healthy regimen and come Jan 2025, weight reduced to 78 kg, gained muscle, increased cardio ability and had follow up lab work where triglycerides came to 140, but LDL is stubborn at 145 and HDL dropped to 38. HBA1c is stubborn at 5.8.
While I understand LDL will stay elevated during active weight loss my concern is with stubborn HBA1c at 5.8.
I consume psyllium husk and barely have less than 30 grams carb a day. Also my fasting glucose is normal at 92. To understand more I got a cgm wgich shows exceptional glucose control with CV of 9% but baseline of 100+ thus confirming HBA1c of 5.8
Can someone help me understand the HBA1c mystery and what will it take for it to go down? Or should I not worry about it as glucose control is good. Attaching lab work and cgm data
