Just moved into Carlsbad, CA

I'm going to the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, CA. I took a stroll around the area, I lived in Dallas, TX before I moved here. Anything I should know about? I'll ask questions along the way, but just want to know the simple things. Thanks!!
