What should I expect?

Family member diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Plan is to do lumpectomy followed by radiation. They live alone. What kind of practical support should I expect they will need? Will they need support with ADL's durring treatment? Can they live alone safely? I am their only family so I am the default caretaker but I've not been included in any info appointments and asking for support is not this person's way of doing things, so I have no clue what to expect.
