New hire, working as an indeterminate @CRA, concerned about starting a part-time and taking vacation days.
Hello everyone! I am currently working as an SP-04 at CRA since Nov 2021. As much as I enjoy what I do, I feel like I can do and enjoy more outside of my time at CRA and make money at the same time. Recently I found out that my friend's aunt is running a coffee shop and they are more than willing to have me aboard. I have always wanted to learn more about coffee and I feel that this might be a good chance for me to learn.
On to different topic, when I was offered the position back in Oct through a phone call before receiving the official offer on CRA website, the person on the call asked if I had any major vacations planned. Of course I said no, given that I really wanted the job and I actually did not have any major vacations planned. But now that I am starting to get used to the work and the summer approaching, I do want to take some vacations.
Now here are some concerns I have:
- As an determinate position who recently started working, would starting a part-time job cause any negative impact such that I will not be offered an extension or negatively impact my future at CRA?
- Would taking a vacation (maybe for a week of a period) cause any negative impact that, again, I will not be offered any extension since I verbally told them that I did not have any major vacations planned during the initial phone call for the job offer?
Thank you guys in advance!
Edit: I’m Sorry I’m not so used to the terms and I meant ‘determinate’ not indeterminate. I am a determinate employee. Sorry for confusion
