Coming to Calgary from Singapore!

Hi Calgary! I am a Singaporean who's going to have an exchange to University of Calgary in exactly a year. For a person from Asia who's never been to the Western Hemisphere, this is a really big deal for me and my girlfriend.

Now, a bit of context. Singapore is really really hot, like average 30°C hot (thank god we all use metric). I would just like a nice crash course about Calgary and Canada in General?

1) What is the "Surviving Winter 101 for tropical lads" tips you have?

2) What would be your must-do in Calgary/Canada?

3) What would be your must-eat in Calgary/Canada?

4) Tips on transport? (Some information on cars will be great, looking forward to drive to Banff!)

5) Any cultural faux-pas I need to take note of? (Tipping, cultural information, standing on the right/left side of escalator)

6) Your experience of Calgary/Canada for the amount of time you've lived there.

All these is just for us to get an idea what we're getting into. We know nothing about Canada apart from it's one of the best countries in the world :)

Look forward to meeting all of you!
