Our small music venues are dying, what we can do about it.
The last year has seen the closure of Stamps, Timeless Babez, Rapids, Amy's Place, Mohawk and Lavender Room. All of these locations happily provided a small and DIY music scene and have sadly all closed for different reasons.
It's clear our city is in a tough spot in the 80-200 cap venue space and I'm reaching out here to see if anyone would be interested in starting something new. I had the pleasure of running booking and sound for Stamps and have almost all of the equipment from the closure and more personal equipment and connections to touring artists that I know what to do with, easily enough for 300 cap room, the only problem is where.
I'm making this as a way of reaching out to the community and anybody who may be interested in taking that next step of starting Buffalo's new small music venue, I'd love to do whatever I can to help.
Amy's place should reopen in the near future and will likely be the central location for any DIY shows happening in the Buffalo area, please support them when possible.
