stop weaponising racism for fandom wars!!!

so i commented this on a previous post but can i just say it fucking pisses me off how the bridgerton fandom (honestly one of the most disrespectful fandoms i've ever been in tbh) weaponises racism in fandom wars?

so one polin account on twt insulted yerin's looks, another simone's acting, and honestly just the ease with which fans feel they can insult actors makes my skin crawl, but i saw many large polin accounts calling them out. suddenly some kanthonys/benophies were up in arms calling ALL polin stans racist (theres one popular kanthony account who is literally white and periodically call polins racist, but they were also ableist to LN - what does this tell me? that it was never about stopping bigotry for some of yall)

every sub-fandom has bigoted assholes. can we tackle the issue without turning it into another juvenile ship war? yall literally call luke newton ugly and talentless on a daily basis, are fatphobic and sexist to nicola, shit on rege for 'not having jonathan's success', harass masali for being michaela, charithra for getting in the way of your ship. the bridgerton fandom has a massive bullying problem, and it's genuinely uncomfortable to be around - but it's so reductive, childish and honestly insulting to pretend someone's alignment with any fictional ship has any baring whatsoever on whether they hold a certain prejudice or not.

stop reducing these actors to helpless victims, stop insulting the POC in the fandom by trivialising racism and other issues as a twitter sub-fandom thing. start advocating for other cast members experiencing prejudices. yeah. we see your hate, too.
