What do you think of Itoshi Rin ?!
For me, Rin is my favorite character in Blue Lock, and here are the reasons why:
Rin’s dream isn’t to become #1 striker in the world "at least not now": When it comes to his relationship with Sae and his dream of playing football, Rin does everything based on his emotions and personal reasons, which have nothing to do with global perceptions like Isagi’s. (I think this is due to the different types of selfishness between them, as explained by the author in the manga.) Despite this, I truly admire characters who live in their own world and reach their own conclusions. I hope the author develops Rin’s character without changing this idea.
Rin’s mentality is not idealistic: Just like Rio (my second favorite character), Rin isn’t perfect. He’s deeply influenced by his negative emotions, feels a strong desire for revenge, and has a bit of fear that he might not be good enough (at least for Sae). Unlike Isagi, who has a strong mentality that helps him grow quickly (one of Isagi’s great strengths), Rin takes longer and more painful routes to find his answers. Of course, Rin’s current mentality isn’t ideal, but in terms of dealing with pain, I find myself understanding him. I’m excited to see how the author will develop Rin in the future.
Rin isn’t just a genius: Yes, Rin has a special philosophy of playing and his physical build, but he’s not just a raw talent. Rin dedicates a lot of time to training and constantly strives to get stronger in his own way. This is the main reason why Rin was #1 in Blue Lock even before awakening his talent with Sae and Isagi.
Rin’s relationship with Isagi: Since I also admire Isagi’s character and mentality and really hope he becomes the best striker in the world (he most likely will, as he’s the manga’s MC 😂😂), I can’t help but appreciate the way the author portrays Rin and Isagi as opposites. This was especially evident in Chapter 279 - 282, where Rin was positioned exactly opposite to Isagi. Also, Rin and Isagi’s relationship didn’t start as a direct rivalry. It began with Rin acknowledging Isagi in the second selection as a capable person, then as a playing partner during the U20 match, where their relationship was mostly friendly, and finally as rivals after the match, " remember, it was Isagi’ goal when he was doing yoga with Rin during the second selection phase" ( although it wasn’t much healthy for Rin like it was for Isagi). I admire how their relationship has been developed, and I hope it becomes more friendly over time.
Rin and Sae’s relationship: I think there are still some things we don’t know about their relationship, but I’m very happy with how much Rin loves and admires his brother. I also think Rin’s current desire to destroy Sae, in a way, carries good intentions beyond just revenge.
What do you think?
