He's obsessed with the ceiling light??

My beardy is over a year old now and we noticed that he likes to stare at the ceiling light. He'll stop what he's doing and cock his head at a slight angle and just look at it with one eye. He seems fixated, like really really fixated on it particularly. I started covering his view to the light because I was concerned and now he's been glass surfing the last 3 days, obviously upset that he can't see it. Is this normal??
He's not "stargazing" like I've seen in pictures on the internet, it doesn't look anything like that, he's just looking at an angle at the light fixture.
The only harm with this habit is that he gets distracted when I'm feeding him. I'll be holding his food/worm/cricket in front of him and he'll seem interested till suddenly he isn't and he's glancing at the light again. And he doesn't look at his tank lights, only the light in the bedroom.
