jazz or precision?

ive never played bass before but have been saving up to be able to get myself one by christmas. just one problem, jazz or precision bass?

i know close to nothing about bass but just from listening to ppl play, i love the sound of fingerstyle and want to learn it. would jazz or precision sound objectively "better" playing with this technique or does it not really matter. thank you x
