I just realized that we were never truly close...

I just realized, two and a half months after the breakup, that throughout the entire relationship, it was an illusion of closeness. We were never truly close. She always wanted to be physically near, but mentally and emotionally, she was somewhere else. All my memories of intense closeness and understanding turned out to be an illusion; there was almost nothing real. This is a very difficult but important realization. Now, I’m not even surprised why she acted so cruelly in the end. Have you ever experienced something like this?
