I bought this yesterday. Should I look into an extended warranty?
2021 45e. Absolutely mint condition. 44K miles. It’s the unicorn I was looking for—a low mileage PHEV, fully loaded, chrome deleted, and most importantly, a factory hitch. I’ve only owned it for a day and it’s my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned! Executive package, luxury seats, 20” black rims.
Here’s the best part. I found a receipt in the glove box that had the original owners name and phone number on it. So when the sales person left me alone with the car, I called the guy. Super nice guy with nothing to gain at this point, right? He vouched for the car. He said there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. He just wanted a different vehicle. That made me feel really good about buying a used car off of a car lot.
The factory warranty will expire in seven days. I like that if there’s anything wrong with it at this very moment, I can get it taken care of. But it’s in perfect condition. Seriously it looks brand new.
I paid cash for the car. I have very good cash flow and can afford to pay for any repairs if they may arise. But this is such a complicated car. What’s everyone’s opinion about getting an extended warranty? Is it a good value, or more of insurance for people who couldn’t comfortably fork out thousands of dollars on a repair? I’m not one to buy extended warranties on anything else in my life. And thus far, that has paid off tremendously.
And finally, for those who did buy a warranty, which company would you recommend?
Thanks!
