Is detailing needed in every body shop?

I want to get into the industry but no one accepts inexperienced people wanting to get in (unless you are referred cause human psychology).

So I plan on maybe getting a job at a car wash that also details to maybe transfer those skills over to the many shop in my area. I think they would be more willing to hire me then. But I’m curious to know if everybody needs a detailer. Or is that like some service that some shops offer that isn’t really necessary?
