Art Teachers, do you need a degree to teach secondary Visual Arts?
Hello everyone,
I hope this is the correct place to ask this question but I'm pretty limited on where I can get my Bachelor of Education (Secondary) / Arts and similar for transportation reasons (I'm trying to avoid 3 hours of public transport as I cannot drive at the moment😅), the only courses I can do don't offer Visual Arts as a minor nor a major which is pretty upsetting. I'm aiming to do a major in mathematics and preferably a minor in Visual Arts and teach said subjects but I cannot study at a university that offers visual arts.
If I do my minor in a different field, how is it possible for me to teach Secondary Visual Arts? would I need to do an extra year of study and get a Diploma in Visual Arts for example or? I have no prior formal education in the field apart from doing it in year 10/11/12 high school.
This is in QLD, Brisbane. Thankyou. 😊
Edit: Bit of a confusing title, I more mean a degree directly related to the Visual Arts :)
