When crossing at a pelican crossing - do you wave to the drivers to say thank you?

I was just having a discussion with my partner about this. He thinks pedestrians should give a polite wave to thank drivers when crossing the road at a pelican crossing. I told him I never do this - I only do this at a zebra crossing. He says people should give a wave to drivers in both circumstances. What do you think?

Do you do it for both? Just one? Or neither?
