What would a well-educated person in the Holy Roman Empire or Ottoman Empire have heard or known about the English Civil War as it unfolded? How much would they have cared?
We know now that England would play a central role in world events for the next few centuries. But my sense is that at the time of the ECW, they were just one among many striving Western European powers emerging onto the stage. How significant would have domestic events in England have been to the big players who were a little removed from it geographically?
