Looking for sources of Russian disinformation in Germany
Hello,
I'm currently in the process of writing a thesis that focuses on Russian information warfare against the West. I have a particular interest in what’s happening in Germany, as it hosts the largest Russian diaspora, is the strongest economy in the EU, and serves as one of the main security guarantors for Lithuania.
The disinformation method I am analyzing is Reflexive Control. In short, it is a strategy of information warfare where Russia seeks to distort the reality perceived by the German political elite, leading them to make self-defeating decisions. Examples include the construction of Nord Stream 1 and 2, the defunding of the Bundeswehr when Russia was not seen as a threat, the exacerbation of migrant issues, and efforts to create divisions on socio-economic questions. The overarching goals of these campaigns are to destabilize and paralyze pro-EU, pro-NATO German governments while simultaneously reinforcing pro-Russian isolationist forces through positive disinformation campaigns targeting groups like AfD or Die Linke.
However, to write a comprehensive analysis, I need credible sources of Russian disinformation. These could include:
- Social media accounts or groups like Telegram channels, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook pages, or other platforms known for amplifying Russian narratives.
- "News" websites. The can be both officially state-funded outlets like RT DE and unofficial ones that regurgitate Russian propaganda.
- Pro-Russian politicians or activists. It includes individuals or groups within Germany who actively propagate pro-Russian narratives.
- Academic reports, case studies, or media analyses that shed light on Russian disinformation methods and their impact.
Anything that could assist me in uncovering and analyzing these campaigns would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support on this journey!
