Crayfish Cave Idea

So I’m planning on stocking a dwarf CPO crayfish in an upcoming tank of mine and I’ve read that they typically enjoy plenty of hiding spots throughout. I have this idea of providing it with a little tunnel running under the substrate using some pvc pipe or something of the sort. Thing is I’m not sure this would be a good idea. Is this something that’s been tried before? If not, would it be alright? I’d also love to hear some experience any of you have had with crayfish, as it’d be my first one and I’d like to be well informed as possible.
