Stop it. Just stop.

Hello A2C!

Congrats to the class of ‘29 y’all are gonna cook. But we gotta address something.

I’m from r/TransfertoTop25 and with the ‘29 class receiving their decisions recently, we’ve been getting a lot of traffic……traffic that is tone deaf, makes no sense, and isn’t healthy.

Ivies are great schools. But so are many other schools and we all know this. This class cooked, but it went “better” for some than others, and yet even the “others” still did well. However, we are getting people immediately asking how to transfer to an Ivy from their accepted public Ivy and/or T30 school. Y’all. Stop it. For a few reasons:

a) successful transfer stories are incredible. But you don’t hear about the fails, and no matter what, transferring isn’t guaranteed. Statistically speaking, what do you think is more likely to happen and is better for you? You successfully complete undergrad at the amazing school you got accepted to, or you attempt to transfer from your school, or worse, don’t even go because you’d rather reject the guaranteed opportunity for community college to try and get into HYPSM. News flash: transfer applications to the T40s are as much of a crapshoot as freshman applications, period. GO TO YOUR ACCEPTANCE. Do not let false dreams of what you thought your life would be prevent you from doing great at your amazing acceptance.

b) Many of you aren’t even giving your school a chance before setting your eyes on another school. Not one. This isn’t healthy, and any transfer vet who knows the process will tell you that T10 transfer AOs can and will see straight through any prestige whoring application and automatically reject it. It’s not worth it. Give your school a chance. We have people asking how to transfer to ivies because they don’t like their acceptance…..at UMich. Like stop. Your undergrad’s opportunities are ultimately what you make of it, not the name brand, let alone the fact that places like UMich have incredible brand and connections. You have gotten into schools most on TTT25 would kill for. So go there. For your own future, sanity, and security. Don’t throw it away to try and play the CC game only to realize it’s not “easier” at all. None of this is. You have fought a good fight. Now go claim your victory.

This isn’t most of you, but it’s enough of you, and it needs to stop before someone genuinely does something stupid and throws away a generational opportunity. Congrats to the class of ‘29 💪
