Can I switch from iTunes to Apple Music?

I used to use iTunes for years. Now I don't. I do Amazon instead, when I get gift cards for my birthday or Christmas. I just use iTunes for storing my music and putting it all on my 5-year old ipod shuffle - which still works great.

I want to switch to Apple Music. But I don't remember my password. It said I have to wait for 5 days?

EDIT: That's it. I'm downloading music from Amazon from now on. The digital singles will NEVER go away, unless I delete my Amazon account. Because a lot of artists I like are only releasing digital music. Pvris has a lot of singles that are only digital, and not any CDs. I do have 4 of her CDs, though.
