how often do the timed lyrics get added

I'm noticing more and more songs I listen to get the times lyrics where it goes letter to letter (u know what I mean) and its not like theyre singles or popular songs, theyre kpop bsides so kinda random

basically do they slowly go through older songs and add them? how does it work
