Can you be a “real” photographer with just a point and shoot?

As the title suggests, can you be a legit photographer with just using a point and shoot? Do you need to learn more technical cameras?

I’ve been shooting film for a couple of years, 98% with a point and shoot (yashica T4 these days). Starting to get a lot of positive feedback and asks to shoot things for people but feel serious imposter syndrome given I just click 1 button on my camera, don’t really know anything about film or how to develop/scan, etc. I’m not trained at all. Feels like it’s not that skillful and if I ever got called up to bigger leagues I’d need to actually know how to adjust lighting, use medium format perhaps etc.

Might be overthinking it but any suggestions on how to learn more of the technical side? Any YouTube channels or something?
