Regaining Control
Being in the Air Force for 13 years has brought me a significant level of commraderire. I've gained many friends and lost many more. Many from ARI's, I've been fortunate in situations I shouldn't have been, I have/kept my job when I probably shouldn't have and had been towing a fine line due to stress. Alcohol is engrained in our culture which in and of itself is fine but all it takes is one bad day to make a bad lifetime.
I quit cold turkey nearly 8 months ago and it has been the most difficult and rewarding experience, between the weight loss and mood stabilization the change is unreal. The significant thing is it puts me in a place to be available for those in need my family and my peers. Being in the military is hard, being sober in the military is harder but to those who struggle just know you're not alone.
Stay safe, stay sane and my inbox is open 🙏🏿
