Macbook Air Retina 2018: AW Performance is slow

Any Apple users have the same experience using AE on a 2018 Macbook Air Retina? I have had this for 5 years and i read online that after 5 years you should consider upgrading to a newer model. My hard disks are not super spacious but I did try everything I could to clear space. I’m a video editor but I use iMac at work and I’m considering editing more at home.

Before I swap this old macbook air out to buy a new M2 Macbook Pro, what should I consider doing to make it faster? Like buy RAM? Transferring files to hard drive? I barely have any softwares but Adobe. I don’t store pictures or that many documents really. Should I still use it? I read online but still feel low-tech. Pls help me!! Thank you!!
