Give me some life advice
I’ve been stuck in a decent-paying but soul-draining government job for the last four years. The pay and benefits are fine, but I can’t stand it. My boss is a narcissist and is having an affair with the secretary. More importantly, I just don’t have any passion for the work.
About a year ago, I started exploring trades that interested me, and barbering really stood out. My cousin, who’s a barber, gave me plenty of advice on how to get started. She even offered me a chair, and my plan was to earn my barber’s license by this time next year. Since the school requires full-time enrollment, I’ll have to quit my job.
A month ago, my fiancé and I split up, and we’ll be selling our home. I’ll have some savings but still have student loans and need to find an apartment in the next 3–4 months. Given all this, I’m wondering if it’s the right time to pursue barbering without the safety net of a dual income and stick with my current job or view it as an opportunity and fully start fresh and pursue barbering?
