Oil pump leaking.

So I took my car to an auto mechanic to diagnose an oil leak that’s leaking oil rapidly when driving and not so much when parked. He traced it to the oil pump and that it’s spraying all over and onto serpentine belts and power steering pump. The picture is the spray caused by the oil pump. I did some search and haven’t found a thread with an oil pump leak, what can cause the oil pump to leak? And can it be rebuild? Or should I just shell out $300+ and get a new one? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
