AITA for not accepting my friend’s overtly pervy emotional support peacock?
Hey everyone, I(27M) need some perspective on a situation that’s been driving me absolutely crazy.
So, my friend(33F) recently got an emotional support peacock. At first, I was understanding because I know people deal with anxiety and depression in different ways, but things have gotten... strange. The peacock isn’t just loud and messy; it’s incredibly seductive and flirtatious.
It struts around the apartment, puffing out its feathers, and seems to take a genuine interest in everyone’s personal space. It’s constantly fanning its tail, following people around, and even pecking at people’s clothes in what feels like a way that’s borderline inappropriate. Honestly, it’s starting to feel like more of a distraction than a support animal.
I’ve tried talking to my friend about how uncomfortable I feel with the peacock's behavior, but she brushes it off, saying it’s just how it expresses itself. It seems like she finds it amusing, but I don’t feel safe or comfortable around something so overtly promiscuous, especially when it comes to personal boundaries.
And honestly, I just wanna cook this damn bird already. He’s such a jerk! But now I’m worried about accidentally contracting some sort of bird-related STD. Am I overthinking this, or is it reasonable to ask her to keep the peacock’s advances in check when guests are around?
