AITAH for supposedly leading this guy on?

i am in college, but certain boys act like middle schoolers. this one guy started staring at me constantly during lectures, inappropriately speaking and acting towards me, and he got my number from a friend. he immediately texted me and confessed having feelings towards me, even though said friend told him i am interested in someone else. he kept asking me out, and i have a very difficult time saying no. i was visibly nervous and he kept asking. i eventually said “maybe” and then he assumed we were dating. i lied clear boundaries the next day, and he blocked me, and told everyone im a whore. just wondering, AITAH?
