AITAH for not lying to my Co-Worker?
I (38F) have a new coworker that I will call Jane (23F). I deliver the mail to everyone at our office. She was talking to another coworker, about something and I was just going to turn in leave when she said she wanted to ask my opinion on something.
Jane: what do you do when a guy won’t stop bothering you for your number? Me: Give him a fake one? Jane: No, I mean, I get asked and followed all the time for my number or dates and idk how to handle it anymore. Me: Other than what I have read from the internet, I do not know. Jane: how do you not know?! What do you do about it? Me: No idea. I don’t get asked for my number. Jane: what?! Me: I am literally a 3/10 on a good day, I don’t get approached. Jane: You’ve married! Me: Yeah and I approached them. Jane: So you have never been harassed in public for your number? Me: Nope.
At this point Jane gets mad and sits back down in her chair. Later I hear from the grapevine that she thinks I was an a** to her and could have just lied to her and just given her advice. I told her what the internet said and she could have looked it up on TikTok or something But honestly, I have never had any one of any gender approach me in public. I am not pretty or cute by any means and I know this and have accepted it. And I have no idea why someone would be mad at me that it has never happened to me.
So Am I the AHole for not lying?
