AITAH- Sister wants me to completely change for HER wedding.
To start off this is a throwaway and there will be some grammar mistakes.
Okay, I have a very alternative look, stretched septum, multiple face piercings, stretched ears and color hair. My sister is getting married in June and has asked me to be apart of her wedding.
I excitedly said yes, even though I know it will make me very uncomfortable, but this is my little sister, how bad can it be? …
I wanted to look nice. I know that the jewelry I wear as my “everyday” would be too harsh for her wedding, so I ordered very tiny, cute little crystal studs for my face, and light colored septum ring and plugs to match her wedding.
After I order them, she then drops the bomb on me and states that she wants everyone to “look the same” and has asked me to completely remove my piercings for her wedding.
Take them all out. I told her that I ordered cute pieces because I didn’t think what I have now was appropriate, but I wasn’t going to completely remove jewelry for hours just so I can be identical to her best friend (who is also in the wedding) but then she tells me since her friend has ONE nostril ring, I can keep ONE of mine in…
So we have been back and forth about this, to the point where she rather me wear cheap plastic pieces and a tunnel in my nose for everyone to stare through.
She then tells me she will have photos PHOTOSHOPPED and have my jewelry edited back on…
Am I the asshole for being upset? The fact that she tells me she loves me, cares for me, and says she supports how I look, just for this?
I understand it’s her day, she can put me in all the silly outfits she wants me in, but I really think taking away what makes who I am, is a step too far.
