Campsite visitors

Do campsites visitors still give gifts? I loaded my campsite with animals with the elegant theme because I’m low on that essence but don’t seem to be getting any essences from them, not even after fulfilling a request.

Also, on getting gifts from friends at Whistle Pass. Is this a once a day thing?
